Artist Statement

                                                                 ARTIST STATEMENT

Born and raised in Greece, for 18 years, and coming to the U.SA at the age of 18 was one the biggest challenge I have experienced. I’ve done several films in Greece, both short and feature films, as an actress. I’ve also worked as an assistance costume designer in a film crew. In the media world, I want to gain as much knowledge as I can, in order to succeed in the industry and my films to be recognizable at the major film festivals around the world.
As a young artist, pursuing my degree, my interests in the film world are mostly about social and family issues. I would like to see myself in the future, as a filmmaker, and to encompass films with my vision under the category of the social realism.  Furthermore, I am to focus on the characters concerns, and their problems that arise from the people. In other words, I lean towards art house cinema. I have the desire to create something that is a step above the common, and that can be enjoyed by anyone. I want to generate my own style and to be opened to new ideas and to new methods of filmmaking. However, I strongly believe that painting influences cinema as an art form through colors, texture and most important, lighting. People can emerge themselves to this art and as a student, I am inspired by the masters of paintings, and at the same time, as we admire at a well-known painting, I want to embrace almost every aspect of it in the media world.
